Ideas and technology honed in the legendary BMW M1 race car transformed the M3. The front and rear bumpers, side skirts, bootlid and spoiler were fashioned from lightweight composites.. The rear wing, and wider wheel arches completed the distinctive shape. Race versions of the M3 clinched victory in the World, European, and DTM titles amongst many other accolades. It featured an upgraded 2,467 cc engine that produced 235 hp at 7,000 rpm and 240 Nm torque at 4,750 rpm. The top speed was increased to 154 mph.
